June 10, 2009! The FLOOD! Well, once again, our neighborhood was looking for Noah and his ark. Actually, we were all looking for buckets, wet/dry vacs, towels, vacuums that suck up water, and fans. About 15 houses on our side flooded and quite a few more on the other half of the neighborhood. Somebody called for flood insurance the last time this happened and the insurance company told them we didn't live in a flood zone. COME AGAIN???
This is in front of my good friend Darci's house. (I stole her pictures). Our house is 8 houses up from the one you can see in the picture. Last time we flooded, we found a car stuck in the drain pipe. This time, it was hailing and the hail clogged up everyone's drain pipes. UHHHG. I was at the school trying to get ahold of Kyle who was home. Well, I thought he was home. He was actually outside playing in this. He came home later to find me and my friend, JO, in the basement drying out his room and sucking water out of his window well. DUH kyle. It happened last time, it's going to happen everytime! Wish he had checked it. But no worries.... the carpet is pulled up, we've got heaters from Grandpa J. and fans from Home Depot and Craig! Thank goodness for friends and neighbors who help and let you borrow their stuff! Our flood was minimal and an easy fix. Some of our neighbors were much less fortunate and have whole basements full of water. Sorry guys! (mike - if you're reading this... at least it's not sewer!)
Well, on to summer time and a break from the rain. Before we know it, we'll be complaining about how hot it is! :)
